This summer, recent Statistics Master's Graduate, Efua Noonoo, participated in the 2025 Diversity Mentoring Program (DMP) at the 2025 Joint Statistical Meetings in Nashville, a program hosted by the American Statistical Association designed to bring historically-underrepresented BIPOC graduate and undergraduate students, post-doctoral scholars, and junior professionals together with senior statisticians from academia, government, and industry.

Efua reflects on her experience, saying, "Being part of the Diversity Mentoring Program (DMP) at JSM this summer was one of the highlights of my graduate journey so far. Walking into a space where I could see people from similar backgrounds excelling in so many areas of statistics was both inspiring and reassuring.
The conversations I had gave me clearer direction about the path I want to take moving forward after completing my master’s at OSU.
What made the experience even more meaningful was connecting with mentors and peers from both academia and industry, who shared advice and encouragement that I’ll carry with me moving forward"
