Dr. Katie McLaughlin has been working towards extending our Survey Research Center (SRC). This extension would be comprised of a smaller team; one tenure track faculty member, one faculty research assistant, and 1-2 graduate research assistants per quarter. While the SRC would continue to do service based work and utilize traditional sampling methods, the extension team would aim to bring in more collaborators and external stakeholders to tackle specialties such as adaptive and targeted sampling for special populations and comparisons of probability and non-probability sampling methods. This idea was pitched to the Research Advancement Academy (RAA) and Dr. McLaughlin was selected as a fellow for the program’s 2022-23 inaugural cohort. The following year, the RAA awarded Dr. McLaughlin funding to continue her work on the SRC extension. While the SRC extension is still in the development stages, this project would greatly improve research opportunities for students from a variety of disciplines. We are excited to see how Dr. McLaughlin’s efforts will benefit OSU’s campus and the larger community in future years.
